I stumbled on it.
Wasn't looking for a new t-shirt. Definitely wasn't looking for a wool one.
Wool meant heavy. Itchy. Something you pull out in November and put away in March. Not a spring shirt. Not even close.
I was wrong.
The Smartwool Merino Short Sleeve Tee changed my mind about all of it.
First time I wore it on a warm day I couldn't believe how breathable it was. How fast it moved moisture. How it didn't feel like I was wearing wool at all - just a really, really good t-shirt that happened to be doing things a regular cotton tee never could.
I picked up two. Grey and blue. Haven't stopped wearing them since.
Here's what nobody tells you about merino.
It regulates temperature both ways. Warm days - it wicks and breathes. Cooler days - throw a flannel over it and it layers perfectly without bulk. One shirt, two completely different use cases.
That's a hard thing to find.
Lightweight merino-blend jersey. The fit is clean without being fitted. Hangs right. Doesn't scream "athletic wear" when you're not doing anything athletic. Just looks like a guy who knows what he's wearing.
I own two.
I'll probably own four by Fall.
